Hull has a remarkable range of pubs, clubs and restaurants – something to suit every taste and pocket. Always popular with students is Beverley Road, near the campus, where you can choose from a wide variety of modern and traditional pubs. Numerous coffee shops, including 'Planet Coffee', are found on Newland Avenue.

Picking up a copy of the 'Hull Ale Trail' is the best way to discover the pubs and cafés in the Old Town. 'Hitchcock's' is a must for vegetarians – the first person to book each night chooses the nationality of food to be served! You can visit the largest Chinese restaurant in the UK – Mr Chu China Palace, or sit outside one of the many dockside bars and cafés to enjoy the view.

City centre clubs host regular student nights – 'Sugarmill', newly renovated club, formerly known as 'Waterfront'(an award-winning warehouse conversion), 'Heaven and Hell' and 'Pozitions' offer a range of clubbing experiences.

Other popular spots include 'LA’s', 'Spiders' and the 'Wellington Club'. And don’t forget 'Asylum' at the students’ union – voted best student union venue by the British Entertainment and Dance Association in 2003.

Many venues across the city offer live music; the KC Stadium and 'Hull Arena' are major concert venues, attracting big names like Elton John, the Stereophonics and REM.

As a popular tourist venue, Scarborough also offers a multitude of pubs, clubs and eateries. Wednesday is ‘students’ night’ – 'Murray’s Music Bar' and the 'Kazbah' both host live bands. 'Vivaz' and 'Mansions' have local and guest DJs, and feature regular drinks promotions. The 'Spa Complex' is the setting for the annual 'Jazz Festival'.

The centre of social activities on campus is 'Calvino’s Bar'.

Throughout the year, Scarborough also plays host to many different events, for example:
